The Bassmaster competition is a professional tournament held for bass fishing over a three day period with the highlight being the presentation of the fish weigh ins. Lots of flamboyant activity going on here, and the competition allows 55 bass anglers to show off what they can do. If you look closely, you will see that in the competing line up of anglers, 40 of the top anglers are competing in the professional bass fishing arena.
Look a little closer and you will see besides the competitors in the professional category, there are fishers from the local region. All in all there will be about 15 contestants in this area of the competition. Overall there are sets of rules which must be followed by all the people competing in order for the Bassmaster competition to be viewed as a fair and professional competition.
To start with, the bass must be caught in a live state and then released after they are weighed in successfully. In the Bassmaster Classic, the maximum length of the caught bass should be about 14 inches. The weight of the fish will enter into the totaling of the fish overall. In the second round of the Bassmaster competition there will be approximately 25 fishermen left.
On the third day, the number of contestants is reduced once again; and the anglers competing in the Bassmaster Classic at this point can fish only in selected areas, usually a lake or near a river. For lots of reasons from learning to having fun, the Bassmaster Classic is a great sport venue for newcomers to fishing as well as the old salts.
